Aquaponics Update

This week our tank didn't really change, it's still kind of turning green but its not too dark. Our tank also doesn't have algae so we have been feeding Bruce algae pellets every second day. The little zebra Danio that showed up in our tank randomly seems to be doing well, he hasn't been eaten yet and sometimes he hangs out with the goldfish.

Aquaponics Update December

We showed up to class and found a random fish in our tank so lets see how that one does. Our tank is starting to get cloudy again even with bruce in there i'm not sure what the deal is with that quite yet. Bruce was finally fed today after like 2 weeks hopefully he wont be going crazy in the tank anymore. We also need to find something to feed the fish over winter break sometime soon.

Last time we added bruce because the tank was getting algae and that has cleared up now. We didnt get a chance to add some extra plants this week so thats gonna have to wait until next week. I think we should be harvesting our plants pretty soon too.

Our tank got some algae again so bruce is back from bailey tank where you couldnt even see him. Hopefully our tank clears up in a few days. Also our plants are growing great but i think next week we will add some more.

This week nothing much really happened to our tank. The water seems like it got greener i'm not sure if that's possible though. Algae in our tank keeps on growing it wont stop growing I think we need some more plants. Our plants are growing really well though so at least something is going right.

Aquaponics Update

Last week we changed the water of our tank and scrubbed off the algae but now the tank has turned completely green again. The algae is also starting to come back so I think we need more plants but we already have like 7 plants and only 3 fish. I think the cause of tank turning green might be the fact that Brooklyn overfeeds the fish everyday, she doesn't want the fish to be emaciated and, every time she walks by apparently the fish look depressed and she feels guilty so she feeds them.

Writing Prompt Wedsesday

If I was the president I would fix the schools by first I would make the parking lot bigger, and maybe the school too because we have so many more students coming next year and the hallways are already packed. We also need some laptops that you can actually log into on the first try. I think we should also add big fans in the bathroom that blow the air straight out.

Book Response

If I was on the island with the boys I would take over as leader because I cant stand doing work for other people. Everyone would have a job to accomplish everyday which would lead to us being saved. I would align myself with Simon because he seems like one to follow directions, unlike Ralph and Jack. I would interact with them just the way they are doing by calling meetings and using the conch to hear everyone's ideas.

The Science Behind Fear

"we are born with the only two intimate fears: the fear of falling and the fear of falling and the fear of loud sounds." I feel like if you were born without fear it would be really cool to hangout with the person, they would actually do anything. I understand how it could be dangerous and probably not safe for the person but it would be really cool to experience for a bit maybe but not for their whole life. I feel like fear is important to keep us safe and like it keeps us in the limits, without fears people would be doing some really dumb stuff.

Brain Disorders of The Digital Age

 We are a really tech dependant generation and that id what leads to brain disorders. Nomophobia is the fear of losing your device and when you get a little panic attack which may lead to desperation for some. This is an experience I am familiar with because I panic every time I misplace my phone. It's not because I need the latest news its because I dont want other people to see it. I have some very valuable accounts on there and I try very hard to keep people away from those.

Unit B

1. Food security is a huge growing issue, Its not just in countries that are struggling but also in developing countries. The population is projected to triple by 2050 which means it will contain 9 billion people, at this point not only will the current population have food security but so will the extra 6 billion people.

2. Some Stakeholders affected would be the Farmers in both developed and undeveloped countries and the environment, policy makers, investors, etc.

3. Social: Only 1/3 of the food on food truck is used the rest is thrown out because it doesn't look good enough.
Ethical: Farmers aren't doing anything organically anymore as they use chemicals to grow stuff faster.
Environmental: Farmers are using more and more chemicals on their land and don't realize that they are ruining land for the future where we will need every little bit we can get to feed 9 Billion people.

4. Developing countries are also at stake for this, they will be very busy with heavy traffic and prices will skyrocket up considering supply and demand. Today water seems very accessible but that might not be the case in the future because we don't have very much of it.

5. There are so many scientists out there with new technology looking for food security in 2050 it isnt impossible it's just really difficult to begin because there are ways to approach this but we need maximum efficiency.

6. To test this we have started a group project in class where we made Aquaponics systems. An aquaponics system uses fish waste to grow the plants.

7. There are many little things that we can do to help food security and I think the key one is to use all the food that is produced and not to throw it away because it doesn't look good. Composting is another one that can help the environment. We also need to bring this to people so they are aware of what is happening because i don't think very many people know about this.

Aquaponics Update

This week our tanks algae problem started to get out of hand so Brooklyn had to get in there with some gloves and scrub it off the sides. I had to clean the tank that our fish were in temporarily when our tank wasn't ready. Our plants seem to be growing well and our fish are doing good just our tank is starting to turn kind of green again.

Writing Prompt Wednesday

If I had to pick someone to be prime minister I would pick Jerry he would be a great candidate. I think he is just a very alert person and he defiantly would make some good decisions. I think if he was the  president we wouldn't have legal age requirements to purchase anything. Also he would be responsible with the power and definitely wouldn't abuse the power.

Book Response

Honestly, so far this book isn't so bad. I thought the book wouldn't be as good as it is because in the beginning it didn't seem like it only complaint I have is it can be very confusing at times. Now there is some good action in the novel and its actually pretty good. I cant seem to read it without zoning out but like when I listen to the audiobook its not bad. I think this book is very popular because it is old and it just got really highly rated by all the teachers.

Article of the Week

Why are we like this? "one man had flung a metal chair, striking the others face, shattering bones and partly severing his nose. We bully to feel more tough. When you bully someone it makes you feel more tough which could cause you to go further just to get the feeling of toughness. Essentially bullying  makes you feel better by bringing someone else down which I think is a terrible way of feeling good. You should actually do something good to feel good not bring down other people.

Weekly Bio Update

This week in biology we are doing a project on the evolution of an animal of our choice. I chose to do mine on the tiger which isn't actually that interesting. I thought it would have started from a completely different animal but it was still a part of the cat family. Our aquaponics system is also coming along, somehow the tank went from green to clear on its own we didn't even add anymore plants before the weekend. But now we have added more plants so hopefully it clears up a bit more. We still have 3 fish which is good because no more jumped out or did. We might need some more fish though because we added a lot more plants and they will need more nutrients to grow I think.

Halloween Writing Prompt

I just got removed from the box after 6 months of sitting in a box. I could finally get out of the hot box with like 59 other bars, and got placed into a bowl with some good airflow. Later that night I was walking around in some kids pillow sack. Sadly his parents only let him keep some of the candy and I didn't seem to make it so I was sent to the landfill.

Bio Update Unit 1

In this unit of aquaponics quite a bit. not only did I learn that you can grow plants with an aquarium but I also learned that Food security affects a lot of people. There are so many stakeholders affected by anything that happens I never thought about that before. Working with this group was quite interesting at first but now its starting to work out.

Writing Prompt Wednesday

I think power defiantly does corrupt. An example of power corruption would be India. No matter what people have they will always want more, that's the case in India. Cops there pull you over for no reason and you have to pay them to get out. They just think they have all the power and can do whatever they want.

Humans On Mars

I think exploring mars would be a good option for us. As the earth is running out of resources we need to start looking at other options. We have the resources to look at other options so I think we should. It will cost a lot of money but in the long run it is a good idea as we are running out of water and other things. Also we need to get some more living area because we need to stop cutting down trees and stuff on earth.

Aquaponics Blog

During the aquaponics project I have learned quite a bit about fish and plants. Before this class I didnt even know aquaponics was a thing. Also I learned to not put a little sh*t in with the other fish because both times we had sets of fish the little Sh*t has always been killed or commited suicide not sure which one. Also, it probably would have been a good idea to put in ammonia before we put in the fish so the little bumps would have been gone.

Plane Crash

If we were on a class field trip and the plane crashed I would defiantly not pull a Palansky and eat all the students. I would actually look for plants that are safe to eat and hopefully don't kill me. If the island doesn't have plants I can always go fishing because it is on an island and I could cook the fish with the fire I get started with lacy's lighter. Hopefully Ms Palansky isn't on the plane because I really don't want to die.

If you could live anywhere. 

If I could live anywhere I would live in Bikini Bottom, and have a house next to spongebob. I would one up him though with a bigger pineapple. My job would be at the Krusty Crab making burgers with the sponge. l would also kill sandy because she is annoying and unwanted in the show. 

I am reading the book "Brain Jack" by Brian Falkner

The book is very fast-paced and has lots of action. Sam is a a teen going somewhere but he is going to do something illegal. And he heads down the alley called "Gamers Alley" where all the Illegal games are made while he turns down he is being chased by the police and loses them. He also introduced his friend named Fargas.

NFL Protest

I think NFL players have the right to kneel down to show what they believe. Trump is the one that is racist and causing all of this, Like Kaepernick said "I'm not going to stand up to show pride in a  flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color." Trump has no right to say they should be suspended or fired because he is the one in the wrong here, however I do think players should not kneel but they aren't in the wrong.

Dream Version of CSS

If I had full power over CSS I would completely transform the second floor bathroom. I would get it stripped fully down and turned into a lounge where you can just chill and not get in trouble for anything. Also would need a fan blowing straight outside  because you know don't want it getting too hot in there.

Sam is a teenager running from the cops for some reason. Seems like he has a good mind for escape from police and their dogs. While running from the cops he turned down the "Gamers Alley" where he hid in the cloud of smoke and lost the dogs. The alley was where all the illegal games were freely available. Then he went deeper into Gamers Alley where a girl in her 20's tried to sell him a dog for some reason...

Climate Change

I think climate change is an actual problem that is becoming a big issue. We need to start moving toward electricity instead of fossil fuels. We are here because we have been using fossil fuels which are very bad for the environment for a long time, and our use is increasing everyday which is making it way worse a lot faster. The consequences are like the article said our food production is being affected by heavy amounts of carbon dioxide and this is terrible for people with zinc, protein, etc deficiencies. "There will be effects on the quantity, quality, and location of the food we produce" I think all of this can be stopped if farmers start using aquaponics or hydroponic because they are indoor and that way the variables can be controlled also it will stop them from needing tractors and stuff which will stop the large use of fossil fuels.

Book Response

         Four Mice Deep In the Jungle is a book II recommend everyone to read! It was super exciting and i didn't have to write about it. I think I don't enjoy other books because we have to write about them but this one I didn't have to write about. I really enjoyed this book because its a fast paced book and a quick read. Therefor if you haven't read it yet you BETTER GO READ IT!
